Frost helped a defense which was ranked No. 6 in the nation against the run (91.0 yards/game). The Panther defense ranked No. 7 in the nation in scoring defense (16.85 points/game), but at the close of the regular season was ranked No. 1 in the nation. His tutoring of Brannon Carter helped the Panther linebacker earn Gateway Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2007. Carter led the league in interceptions (5) and was the Panthers' leading tackler (88). Frost came to UNI after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Kansas State University in 2006. His main coaching focus for the Wildcats came in the defensive backfield. Frost also served as a graduate assistant coach for the University of Nebraska in 2002. Frost was the starting quarterback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and head coach Tom Osborne in 1996 and 1997. In 1997 he led the Huskers to an undefeated season and the national championship, becoming the 10th player in college football history to run and pass for 1,000 yards in a single season. He was also a member of the undefeated national championship squad in 1995. Frost began his collegiate career as a quarterback/defensive back at Stanford University for head coach Bill Walsh before transferring to Nebraska. Frost was taken in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the New York Jets with the 67th overall pick. Frost played safety and special teams for the Jets under head coach Bill Parcells from 1998-2000. He moved on to the Cleveland Browns in 2001 and was a member of the Green Bay Packers in 2001-2002. He was in training camp in 2003 with the San Francisco 49ers before finishing his pro career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2004.
