Former Panther infielder Kevin Sawatzky is back as a volunteer assistant coach. Sawatzky played for UNI from 1994 to 1997.
His name appears many times in the UNI record books, ranking fifth in games played (202), sixth in runs scored (134) and fifth in home runs (22). He holds the record for taking first base on balls with 98 walks. In his first collegiate game, he wrote the NCAA record book with three triples versus Augsburg.
Sawatzky is originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and after graduating in 1997 with a B.A. in marketing he worked in the financial industry. He returned to UNI this fall to pursue an accounting degree and has secured a position with a leading agency, McGladrey & Pullen, when he graduates.
