PEORIA, Ill. -- University of Northern Iowa senior Traci Hawley earned All-Region honors Saturday at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet, finishing 20th among 178 competitors at Newman Golf Course to lead the Panther women.

Hawley (Ames, Iowa/Ames), following up a second-place finish at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships, turned in the second-fastest 6-kilometer time in UNI history by finishing in 20 minutes, 57 seconds. That run was just a second off the school record of 20:56 Hawley set earlier this season.

While she did not earn an automatic berth into next weekend's NCAA Championships, Hawley could earn an at-large berth when the NCAA announces its at-large selections on Sunday at www.ncaasports.com.

The All-Region distinction added to an already outstanding season for Hawley, who earned All-MVC honors for the second straight season with her runner-up performance at the conference meet and set UNI school records in the 4K, 5K and 6K races.  Last week, Hawley also was named to The Valley's Scholar-Athlete team for her work in both athletics and academics.

As a team, the Panthers finished 16th on the strength of Hawley's run along with a 65th-place showing by junior Caedryn Schrunk (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake), who finished in 21:51.

Also for UNI, sophomore Andrea Wacker (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) was 87th in 22:14, Amanda Huling (Hampton, Iowa/Hampton-Dumont) was 141st in 23:15 and freshman Regina Reinig (Portsmouth, Iowa/Harlan) was 144th in 23:25.  All three recorded personal-best performances.

The Panthers did not compete as a full team in the men's 10K competition, but were led individually by Mike Clancy (Iowa City, Iowa/West), who finished 82nd in 32:32. Chris Lawson (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) followed in 89th, finishing in 32:39, while Andy Schon (Waukon, Iowa/Waukon) was 97th with a time of 32:57.

Each of the trio of seniors concluded their UNI careers by recording personal-best times.
